Ingredients

  1. 1 cup of coarse cracked wheat (bulgur)

  2. 3 cups of water

  3. 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt

  4. 2 tablespoons of honey

  5. 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

  6. 1/4 cup of mixed dried fruit (e.g. apples, apricots, dates, raisins)

  7. 1/4 cup of chopped nuts (e.g. almonds, walnuts)

Cooking Utensils

  1. Measuring cups and spoons

  2. Medium saucepan with lid

  3. Wooden spoon

  4. Serving bowls

Instructions

1. Measure out the cracked wheat and pour into the saucepan.

2. Add the water and sea salt to the pan.

3. Turn your stove up to high heat and bring the mixture to a boil.

4. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and simmer for about 15 minutes until the wheat is tender.

5. While simmering, measure your honey, cinnamon, dried fruit, and nuts.

6. After 15 minutes, or when the wheat is tender, remove from heat. Stir in honey and cinnamon, mixing well.

7. Finally, stir in the dried fruits and the nuts.

8. Spoon your gruel into serving bowls and enjoy while warm.
